Based on the original 1891 German play ``Spring Awakening'' by Frank Wedekind

Spring Awakening follows a group of teenagers through their sexual awakening in a provincial, repressive German town in the 1890s. Denied the basic facts about how their bodies work, they struggle with puberty and follow their instincts, with unhappy consequences.

"Spring Awakening" has a rock music score. The dialogue is relatively formal (since it is set in the 19th century) but encorporates contemporary idioms into the songs. The songs are all written as internal monologues, so an audition song in a similar style would be best received.

This show contains mature themes and language.
