Phantom: The American Musical Sensation 1992 Studio Cast Recording

Loosely based on the novel by Gaston Leroux. Widely regarded as the most popular musical performed off-Broadway. The music is fairly simple.

Christine Daee (age 19-25, Legit Soprano up to High D)
[note: NOT operatic soprano! NOT operatic soprano! This Christine is not even close to being vocally strenuous as Andrew Lloyd Webber's Christine) Gullible, Naiive, pure-hearted ingenue type----peasant girl-turned-opera star. Erik's new protegee and object of obsession.
Erik (middle-aged. tenor/baritone)
A tragic, sympathetic figure. The gentle, disfigured and misunderstood maestro lurking in the bowels of the Opera. Madly in love with Christine.
Carlotta (40s. Soprano up to high B)
The conniving wife of the new manager of the Opera House and self-appointed opera star. Extremely jealous of Christine's talents and tries to ruin her. This role is ideal for an amateur opera singer.
Phillippe, the Count de Chandon (20's, light tenor)
The Opera's patron. Hunky, popular type who only has eyes for Christine. [Lovesick Tenor. Song: Who Could've Dreamed Up You?"]
Cholet (40s)
The new manager of the Opera. Very passive, a pushover. Will do anything to please his prima donna wife.
Carriere (50s to late 60s)
The ex-manager of the Opera. The wise old man who knows a little more than everything else. We learn his mysterious connections to the Phantom later in the show.
