Based on the play My Lady Friends by Mandel & Emile Nyitray, based on the novel Oh James! by May Edgington.

Early summer, 1925. Jimmy's traveling has found him with three girls in three different cities, and he needs to get rid of them before his wife finds out.

Please Note: 1940 movie version bears little resemblence to the stage version.

No No Nanette requires almost every character to tap dance at some point.

Jimmy Smith (Tenor or Light Baritone - low C to high A, 40 - 55)
A warm, loveable, hard working and successful Bible publisher. He cannot resist helping distressed women.
Sue Smith (Alto - low G to high Bb, tap dance, 35 - 50)
Jimmy's plain, loyal, frugal, suspicious and strict wife.
Nanette (Soprano - low bB to high B, dance, 15 - 23)
The Smiths' adopted daughter, in love with Tom but wants to "taste the Roaring Twenties" before she settles down.
Billy Early (Tenor - low bB to F#, dance, 28 - 45)
Jimmy's friend and lawyer - flashy.
Lucille Early (Alto - low bB to F, dance, 25 - 40)
Billy's wife - a glamorous cosmopolitan whose main hobby is shopping. Sue's best friend.
Tom Trainer (Tenor - low B to high #F, 18 - 25)
Lucille's nephew and Billy's law clerk. He is straight-laced, possessive and in love with Nanette. He has to soft shoe in 'Tea for Two.'
Pauline (Mezzo - E to high A, 35 - 75)
The Smith's overworked cook who strongly dislikes Sue Smith.
Flora (Alto - low C to Eb, 22 - 35)
A busty, widowed greedy woman whom receives money from Jimmy.
Betty (Mezzo - low C to high F, 18 - 32)
A young, pretty, greedy girl that Jimmy met at the railway station who receives money from Jimmy.
Winnie (Soprano - low C to high F, 18 - 32)
A young, pretty, greedy girl with literary ambitions whom receives money from Jimmy.
Large chorus of flapper girls who sing and dance.
