The songs of Swedish singing group ABBA are woven into 2 simultaneous love stories. Set on a Greek Island, Sophie is preparing to be married but is upset because her anonymous father will not be present. Determined to uncover his identity, Sophie uses her mother's diary to contact three former lovers and invites them to the wedding. Her mother Donna, a former singing star, is now forced to confront her past.
Mama Mia showcases the talents of "older" performers as well as the traditional "young lovers" leads.
