Originally conceived as entertainment for a Toronto stag party, The Drowsy Chaperone is about one musical theatre fan's obsession with a fictitious show from the 1920s. He settles down to listen to a cast recording of his favourite 1920s musical, only to have the show come to life in his apartment.
The music is very much 1920s style. If you cannot find a musical theatre piece in a suitable style, a popular song from that era would also be appropriate. |
