Anything Goes was originally about a shipwreck, but when there was a real-life shipwreck (with many lives lost) soon before the opening, tact demanded that it be rewritten. In fact, there are several rewrites of this show. The book that is usually licensed is the 1962 version, written by Guy Bolton.
