Gene Kelly - A Celebration
Featuring more than 100 photographs, this lavish tribute looks back with affection at the remarkable and influential career--on both sides of the camera--of one of the cinema's most popular stars. Now in paperback. Gene Kelly was the man who dragged Hollywood musicals into the second half of the 20th century--splashing through puddles in ``Singing in the Rain,'' dancing to the top of the Empire State Building in ``Our Town,'' teaching French kids to sing Gershwin in ``An American in Paris.'' He took dancing out of the ballroom and set it alive on the streets. He was also, of course, an actor, choreographer, and director, but it is as the first modern screen dancer that Gene Kelly will always be remembered. This picture-filled volume is a tribute to his rare talent and indelible body of work.

American In Paris

Brigadoon
This Cinemascope production brought Lerner and Loewe's hit Broadway musical to the big screen with Gene Kelly and Van Johnson as the American hunters who stumble upon Brigadoon, the magical Scottish village that went to sleep in 1754 and awakens for just one day each century. MGM had originally planned to shoot this film on location in Scotland, but budget considerations turned it into a studio production, costarring Cyd Charisse as the bonny lass who wins Kelly's heart. Although it has never been ranked among the great musicals of MGM's golden age, Brigadoon has still got plenty of charm and continues to gain a loyal following.

For Me and My Gal
The first of Gene's long string of movie musicals, this one is unique in that it's plot is somewhat more complicated than the typical musical. While the plot twists alone are reason enough to watch it, you will also be thrilled with Gene's singing, dancing, and acting performance.
