I just got back from seeing a matinee of the new broadway revival of "A Chorus Line" on Wednesday! Overall, it was a really great show with AMAZING dancing. I had only seen a community theatre production of ACL before so to see Broadway caliber singers/dancers/actors perform the material was incredible. Charlotte d'Amboise (Cassie)- she really looked the part but I have to say that I was a little dissapointed with her portrayal of Cassie, her dancing and singing were pretty good but some of her acting choises were a little iffy (i.e. she looked possesed during Music and the Mirror). I had a hard time feeling for her character. Michael Berresse (Zach)- good I guess, nothing wrong about him but nothing that really stood out either. Natalie Cortez (Diana)- I thought she overall did a very nice job! I really liked her "Nothing" and she made some great acting choices during it. Her voice was great although she could work on her projection a little more. Her "What I Did for Love" was very heartfelt. Mara Davi (Maggie)- Wow! her voice was amazing! I couldn't believe how high she was belting during "At the Ballet". Flawless. Jeffrey Shecter (Mike) Very cute and funny. Good strong performance. Jason Tam (Paul)- first off, he was completely adorable. His monologue was so heartfelt and sad and you really felt for him. Also an excellent dancer. Chryssiwe Whitehead and Tony Yazbeck (Kristine and Al)- Very good chemistry. Tony had a great voice and I wish I could have heard more of it. Kristine was hilarious. Jessica Lee Goldyn (Val)- I thought she did a good job. She was very funny and had a good handle on her character. Deidre Goodwin (Sheila)- not one of my favorites but she wasn't bad. Her singing voice wasn't very strong and sometimes I couln't understand what she was saying so I missed some jokes so she could work on her diction. If anyone wants to know about any performances of the other actors, just PM me!
