Audition Monologues For Children (Kids)

Choosing a monologue for a child is the same in most respects as choosing one for an adult. They need to understand it, it should be appropriate to their age and the role that it comes from should be a role that they could conceivably play. However, there are a few differences.

  • For especially younger children, the monologues generally do not need to be as long as those for adults. A minute-long monologue should be long enough for most purposes.
  • Children do not need the extensive monologue repertoire that adults require. One comedic and one dramatic are enough to cover most auditions.

Look for more monologues in our list of shows that have roles for children.
