I've been a singer my whole life. I started ballet and tap in 2006. From that time up until this year, I took classes off and on, mainly because I had trouble finding the right teacher. Now I'm with a wonderful studio and I have great teacher who very encouraging, is willing to work one on one with me, ect.  Since then, my dance skills have gotten better, especially in tap. Ballet/Lyrical is coming along nicely, but my technique isn't 100% perfect. I know in time I will improve and be ready for professional theater and Broadway. However, I'm still concerned with the level of difficulty dancing will be at a Broadway audition and what is it exactly the directors are looking for regarding dancing abilities, especially in singers. Are they looking for absolute perfect technique? Or would they cast someone who can move pretty well and do the choreography but doesn't have exactly perfect technique? I personally think I'm just being hard on myself. Any of my technique problems are tiny and nit picky, like the way I position my arms. Sometimes instead of holding them loosly, I make then stiff. I do pick up on choreography really quickly. And every dance audition I've had thus far, I've treated like a performance and added personality and enthusiasum or what you wil into each dance. I think that helped alot as I made it to the next round of call backs.

So yea, has anyone been to a professional audition and had to dance? If someone has, I would love to get some insight into the dance part of an audition in professional theater.

Even if you haven't been to a professional audition, I still welcome and insight
