Ruthless
Written by lanilovesyew
So the CD for "Ruthless!" came in yesterday... I listened to my song (for any of you who may have heard it for some reason) is called " A Penthouse Apartment". It has tons of belting, and my current voice teacher said, upon hearing the whole musical CD that she wasn't trying to be rude but she didn't know why I got that part. Apparently it is the hardest song in the entire musical. Also, (I forgot this part) the last note is one of those where it goes from superlow to superhigh in one breath. I forgot the technical word for it... My teacher said that, as a brand new voice student this would be difficult if not impossible for me to do by September. This was highly discouraging. Soon I'm going to see my new voice teacher ( who has more experience in teaching; I'm this lady's first student) and hopefully she will say she can teach me how to sing this. But other than the end, I was happy to find out it was in my range (mezzo/belter). I will try and get a recording of the original (and one of me attempting it in a few weeks) on my website/blog thing soon. <3 Lani

I agree with Laura... there's no stopping an iron will! You can do it! Have faith in yourself and if your teacher keeps telling you it's impossible, I'd get a new teacher!!!

If you can hit the notes in the song, you can learn to sing them properly so that you do not hurt yourself. A good voice teacher is the key. Even if there is a note you currently cannot hit, that doesn't mean that your range cannot grow. You will have to work hard, but it is not impossible as your 1st teacher has claimed. September is a long way away and alot can be accomplished between now and then. Never be negative. Never give up. Practice, practice, practice!!!!!!!!!!
