| So I just finished a short run of our school musical The Sound of Music as a nun. 3 of 4 shows - SOLD OUT!! Opening night was Thursday, and it went verrryyy well. :) at school the next day, at least 5 different people passed by me and said "hey I saw that show!" (i was wearing the show shirt) and i asked them if it was good, and instead they replied "IT WAS AMAZING". And everysingle night, the audience went crazy before we even finished the last word in the show, ("till you find your DREEEAAAAMMM!!! lol) haha i have the right to brag now.
On Friday, our director warned us that it wouldn't be as good as the night before, because we would be fatiged and bored, so we proved him wrong, and did an even better show. :)
On our saturday matinee, our director warned us (again) that this would be the most difficult show for many reasons. We were feeling tired, but we slaved through it and the director claimed it was his best matinee show so far. (though the audience didnt clap sometimes for the nun scenes. it was, though, an audience of mostly kids and older adults, so i guess its okay...)
Right before the show that saturday night, we gathered in the chorus room, and our directors gave us some wisdom and such, then our music director (Who is getting a new job in switzerland after this school year :[ ) gave us some advice. we almost cried. Then she said that SOM is basically the show of her life; teaching kids how to sing, then moving to switzerland (how weird!!! but cute!! and sad!!!), and then she started to cry. THAT made everyone start bawling.
So on that show, everyone who watched Maria sing "The Sound of Music" from backstage started crying. Lol the lyrics hit them like a ton of bricks, and our Maria is just wonderful and we'll miss her sooooo much next year. Then I (and others) cried during "Climb Every Mountain", cuz i basically idolize our Mother Abbess who is also leaving next year, and that song is just..... powerful?? lol
Aw jeez...... second act..... Edelweiss..... i was already bawling haha. Especially since that song was the last one that Oscar Hammerstein wrote while he was dying, and dedicated it to Stephen Sondheim (who was pretty much raised by Hammerstein). And just that whole situation in the show, GAHHH!!! T_T. Then us nuns sing from off stage before we walk on during "Climb Every Mountain reprise", and jeeezzzzz, every night, i almost cried during that song. But last night I walked onstage pretty much as a mess. lol Even our Captain von Trapp was THISSSS close to crying too. Afterwards our seniors shared their memories and advice, more tears ensued, even from the guys.
Yup so i'm recovering from sadness, and it's hard. But I still feel happy that people have said this was our best spring musical yet :)
