Breaking even and audition questions
Written by broadwaygirl257

Hey guys. It feels like forever since I've checked in on this site, but I've been so busy lately. You know that Seinfeld episode where Jerry keeps breaking even? That's how I feel my auditions have been going lately. I didn't make the cut for ACDA Chamber Choir a few months ago, but I got to sing a huge solo every night at my school's Madrigal Feast and I did get a decent solo in the Christmas concert. I just found out today I didn't make the cut for All State Choir either (our choir director goes by senoirity, and even though I did very well at the auditions, he picked two junior choir members over me) but I was notified I recieved an audition for the Governor's School for the Arts later this month.

This actually is where the entire entry was going. I need a classical song and a Broadway showtune to audition with. I have the classical song already, but I have the showtune narrowed down to three choices : "I Could Have Danced All Night " from My Fair Lady, "As Long As He Needs Me" from Oliver!, and "I Couldn't Be Happier" from Wicked (I know, I know, but that song is perfect for my range). What would you guys suggest?

And while I'm already asking questions, has anyone ever been in the play Noises Off ? I just got word our playhouse is considering it for the season opener. Anyone know where I can find character breakdowns or any monologues? Thanks a million!

If it helps, Patti LuPone played 'Dotty' in the b'way revival.

OMG, Governor's School! I was a semi-finalst for that last year- so you got a callback? The callbacks are soooo much fun! (I made alternate, but never actually got to the school, and I'm too old to audition this year smilies/sad.gif )

Noises Off is the best play ever!!!
Anyway, wikipedia has character breakdowns, but I suggest you just rent the movie, because it's kind of confusing.....But awesome!
As for monologues, this show has no monologues (it'll make more sense later).
