High School Musical Auditions
Written by broadwaygirl257

I am auditioning for High School Musical this Saturday for the role of Gabriella Montez, so needless to say, I'm very excited and very nervous. This audition is very unusual though, because we don't have to prepare any other song to sing or any monologues. The director will teach us an arrangement of a song from the stage show, and I've memorized every song from the movie and almost all the new songs from the stage version, so I should be fine with that.

There are going to be cold readings and I'm a little worried about those. I was wondering though, in your opinion, for those of you who are familiar with the show, which scenes do you think will be used for the cold readings? I thought maybe the scene directly after "Start of Something New" between Gabriella and Troy, the scene before "Stick to the Status Quo" between Gabriella and Taylor, the scene right after "Stick to the Status Quo" in the garden between Gabriella and Troy or the scene directly after "When There Was Me and You" between Gabriella and Troy, at the lockers. Do any of those sound like possible choices? Thank you for reading. If anyone has any tips or advice, I'd be really grateful to hear them. This is the first non-school or old playhouse audition I've ever been too, I'm auditioning for a new company at an old-but-new-to-me playhouse.

We did High School Musical recently. For Gabriella they had them read the scene in the garden between Gabriella & Troy. For Sharpay they had people read a conversation between Ryan & Sharpay (don't remember which scene as it's been a couple of months). Hope that helps.
