I've got an audition!
Written by luvs2sing

I haven't really posted anything in my MTA blog, so I thought this would be the perfect chance to do so. A professional theatre company in my area is holding auditions for their youth repertory company! As you can tell, I am extremely excited, and I really hope that I get accepted into their program. It is very competitive and very time-consuming, so my parents are not so sure about it yet...basically, the deal is I get to audition, but if I am accepted, they will have to discuss it and decide whether or not I should join. It might seem kind of strict, but I know they're only trying to keep me from feeling too much pressure (this year at school is also going to be filled with homework). Oh well, wish me good luck either way! :-)

You will have to work hard, but it can be done if you are very organized. School must come 1st, so please be understanding of how your parents feel. They love you and want to do what is best for you. (Of course I'm sure you know that). But they probably know you better than anyone. So you have to work hard at your homework and assure them that you can bring your homework with you to rehearsals so that when you aren't on stage, you are nearby finishing it up! Don't just promise them you will, but if you get in, you MUST keep that promise!!!! Explain to them how you plan to keep up with your studies. You must have it all planned on how you will do it.

This commitment will probably be the end of any social life outside of this theatre company. So you really need to think about it. How important is that to you? When you talk to your parents, you need to explain that you understand that sacrifice and are willing to give that up for your school work and this opportunity. As time goes by and you keep up your grades, your parents will be proud of you in the end. But it will be a sacrifice to all other social life. I do wish you the luck you ask for.
