UPDATES

I'm doing a camp at where we held our Les Mis and Sound of Music performance and the Factory Girl and Marius are there too.

At the camp, we work on an audition song and a monlogue that you can professionally use.

Also my friend Adam had a whole article about him in the New York Times for his upcoming role as Young Shrek in Shrek the Musical. It was really interesting.

Anyway, the song I'm singing is "I Want it Now" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I picked it out myself and Michelle agreed to it because the song quality relies more on acting and character than quality of voice. It's also going to be really fun to play a brat because I've never done that before.

My monologue is about a girl who went to a Quaker school and she's talking about how stupid it is to have an awards ceremony where everyone gets an award because it doesn't mean anything. She also talks about this topic with the headmaster of the school. It's a comedic one and I was a bit disappointed it wasn't drama because I did comedy before but I like this monologue better than my last one.

The Marius got a monologue where he's complaining about his sister buying tuna fish that's not labeled dolphin safe which is really ironic in real life because the Factory Girl always calls him a hypocrite because he freaked out when he couldn't get meat at this one resturant and then he always feels bad about shampoo because it gets tested on animals so obviously me and the Factory Girl made him read this monologue.

Yesterday (it's 1:30 in the morning for me) Michelle had us read our songs as a monologue to help understand the character and climax. The girl who went before was really shy and quiet so she was being really sweet about her song and when my turn came, I really wanted to get into the brattiness of my character so I started screaming at Michelle and it cracked everyone up and then after two measures my mind went completely blank so I was screaming "I DON'T REMEMBER MY LINE BUT WHAT EVER IT IS I WANT IT NOW!" I feel kind of bad becuase Michelle said "I felt like I was being attacked" but I kind of think that's a good thing because Veruca is strong minded and knows what she wants.

Later during this song-as-monologue time, a girl was singing "Shy" from One Upon a Mattress and Michelle didn't know the story so I was explaining it to her and I sang her some of the beginning lines they cut off for audition's sake and she asked me what "Hey nonny nonny" meant.

I really don't know what I was thinking it when I said this:

"I don't know. I think it's a medieval term for Hey there hot stuff!"

Everyone really got a kick out of this one and I think that's going to be the quote of the summer now.

I also tried belly dancing yesterday. It was very interesting experience. I stink at it though.

That's pretty much it for now. It's now 1:48 am and that means Halle has to go to sleep.

Adieu, Adieu to you and you and you.

EDIT: I'll try to get thoughts on Mary Poppins up soon I completely forgot about my last post.
