The Full Monty! lessons of community theatre
Written by CwEinDallas
Full Monty previews tonight and opens tomorrow.  I'm excited and it will be a great show.  but this tech week has been hard.  Some of the problems we have had would not have happened in a professional theatre but with volunteers who spend all day at a regular job and then devote their evenings to helpign out for free these things happen.  The biggest problem is this: the 6 principle guys who do the "FULL MONTY" didn't get all their tear away stripper costumes (including g-string underwear) until.... yesterday.  and there are still fasteners that will need to be fixed.  The lesson here is: costumers should look for the scariest pieces or the pieces that will affect the actor's comfort first so they can get used to the feel/movement in them.  I provide my own costumes so i have been doing my number in my underwear for over a week, but these guys basically did the number full out for the first time last night.  I am really proud of our guys, they are real troopers!  tonight we have a preview audience... the Kitty Baker ladies group from a local retirement community and invited friends.  woo hoo!!
