Today I learned...

| ...how to set up theatre lighting.
Our lighting director person asked to steal people from chorus to help set up the lights, and so 4 of us went. And you'd think, you know, since none of us have ever set up a lighting system before and had no idea what we were doing at all, she would have spent some time explaining how everything worked and making sure we knew exactly what we were doing before she sent us off to rig stuff, but we got a 2-minute lesson on how to interpret a lighting chart, a 1-minute lesson as to the distinction of the different kinds of a lights and where everything was, a 1-minute rundown of how the lights were going to look, a solid 3 minutes on how to connect a twofer cable, and a 30 second overview of where and when to use tie line.
Which is good. It bothers me when people treat you like complete idiots becuase you're under the age of 18. I mean, we figured it out and rigged the back two bars, and even figured out how to connect them without making a mess.
I'm just proud of myself. I like learning new things. :) |
