The Rehearsals Have Started!
Written by itshairspray

Okay, yesterday was the first day of Broadway Babies rehearsals. I'll go through what we did. We got there and we all just kind of waited for people to get there. It seemed like almost 20 someting of the 50 something cast wasn't there. Whatever. Anyway, first we learned the music for the song "On the Willows." The music director chose three people to sing the first part as a trio and of course, she picked people that she knew from other productions. Favoritism. I know, it comes with the territory. But things looked up when I was one of the three that was added to the next verse which is a repeat of the first one. I have to sing lower though. Oh, and I practiced this song for a few days before the first rehearsal so that I could get the hang of it. Anyway, moving on. Next, we learned the music for "Mamma Mia." I already knew it but I was kind of sad because I missed the second callback for possibly getting a solo in the song. The director cast it without me and I met a girl who also didn't go and planned to go on Saturday to her house so that we could have the second audition. But, with my luck, it snowed and she canceled on me. Whatever. I'll live and it will be fine. It went good and both of the songs sounded good.

Next part is like...probably the most depressing. Dancing is not my forte at times. Sometimes, I can be awesome and other times, it's like "Who let that mess on stage?" I was the odd one out both times. We learned part of dances from both "What Time Is It?" and "All for One" from High School Musical 2. It seemed like my partners would have rather not been with me. But they should be happy, they get to do the girl part of the dance and I nicely volunteered (well, on the second one, my partnet asked me which part I wanted to play and I volunteered to do the boy part. the first one, the choreographer assigned numbers) to do the boy part of the dance. I'm taller and larger anyway so It was kind of inevitable. But yeah, I don't know anyone in the production. I would have but my friend didn't go to her callback and didn't get cast. My other friend didn't get a callback at all. But yeah, um, anyway. The dances are fairly easy but the song is fast and I haven't quite gotten everything down and perfect. I've been practicing and hopefully I can con my sister into helping me by playing the other person. But she's kind of like "blah, theatre! why do you even want to do theatre?" and i'm like "because i love it, loser." ahaha. Anyway, the practice was from 4:30 to 8:30 and that is no the longest of them.

But yeah, I felt like recapping on my first day of rehearsals. it was fun and on thursday, we are doing only music and for "Day by Day" (Godspell), "Light of the World" (Godspell), "Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord" (Godspell). I hope that I'll get a chance for a solo in "Day by Day." I've been working on that song and I sound pretty good. :] But yeah, that's about it.
