Ugh, sickness.

I've had a wicked bad sore throat since last Sunday night- I've hardly been able to talk, so singing has been out of the question. After about a week of being sick, I finally managed to go to the doctor's. After much poking and prodding ("Well, your throat looks a little red..."), and dealing with a doctor's assistant who didn't have any idea what she was doing ("Well, uh, I guess a strep culture would be a good idea... Hold on... Let me ask the nurse"), my doctor pops out this ambiguous statement: "Well it looks like a sinus infection... I mean theoretically... Here, just take some amoxicillin for a week or so; it may or may not do anything."
So if we are to believe said doctor, I should be pretty much better within two days. I'm really hoping so. I've been avoiding talking and singing as much as possible, but there are situations where I really can't get out of it- such as last night's rehearsal with the accompanist, which I absolutely had to sing at. So I just sang very quietly, just getting the notes out as gently as possible so she knew what she was doing. And I’m hoping my Super Antibiotics will make me well enough to sing on Thursday, which is the battle scene/transformation, which happens to be my favorite scene. And besides, being sick in general is a miserable thing.
