Audition Recap
Written by itshairspray
Okay, so finally, the day of the Broadway Babies audition came and I gotta say...it went pretty damn good. My song was great, except for one note but I recovered from the mess up. I didn't show that I messed up and I smiled. Okay, here's a question... Is it a good thing if the director is smiling at you while your singing? She wasn't singing at a lot of other people, some, but not a lot. I hope it is. I prepared two contrasting songs but ended up not singing both. I had "I Dreamed a Dream" and "Mamma Mia" prepared and went with the uptempo "Mamma Mia" because most people had done ballads before me. Also, my friend was with me and she auditioned as well. She sang "I Couldn't be Happier." She was convinced that she was terrible and she wasn't. She's amazing and she's playing Alice during our school's production of Bye Bye Birdie. She has to sing the ridiculously hard, harmony in "One Boy." Anyway, her presence there calmed some of my nerves. I smiled and didn't do unnecessary movements but I didn't stay stiff. I was pretty proud though, of my song. As for dancing, I did okay. I know that I am not a fantastic, show-stopping dancer. I am not the fluent at times and I know it. However, I had fun and smiled while I danced. We learned part of the dance from "Work This Out" from High School Musical 2, for the audition. We had to freestyle and have fun before and after the routine. I had fun and got into it. I was quite proud of myself. Then they asked people if they knew tricks (cartwheels, round-offs, etc) and I didn't. I can do some ballet. Glissades and some other things but it was the triple and quadruple things. Anyway, I just wanted to talk about it. If I get a callback, they'll call me. Now, I just have to wait. THE SUSPENSE. o.o haha. Over, and out.

Thank you and I meant that the music director wasn't smiling at a lot of other people. I hope that was a good thing. :] But yeah, thanks Kaitlyn!

Well.... I like to smile at people when they're singing, because they are usually scared out of their pants, and I don't think it's comforting to look down and see stoney faces looking back. So I smile. Directors might do that too, or maybe your director liked the song you chose and how you expressed it.
So it's usually a good thing smilies/smiley.gif haha. Good luck!!

I smile too but, I looked at the director while other people were singing and she didn't smile at most of them. There were only 35 people there yesterday but I think a lot of them are coming tonight to it. I hope I got in. If I didn't get a lead part, that's okay. Oh and I think I forgot to add. A girl sung the same some as me but, not to be mean, I think I sounded better at it. I can't wait for the callbacks if I get one or when they announce the cast list. I just need to work on my schoolwork and not get distracted by going onto the site, to see if they posted it yet. Haha.
