Audition Reports
Written by Starlet_Actress21

Well, I have two things to report on, but this entry should be pretty short.

I auditioning for the female version of The Odd Couple last week. I was sooo excited because I love The Odd Couple, but never thought I'd get a chance to be in it, as I never even knew there was a female version! So I auditioned the first day with my friend. I read for Vera, Sylvie, and read for Florence twice. The last scene I read was my favorite- it was an argument scene between Florence and Olive and my friend was playing Olive; it was so much fun.

Two days later, we had our parts. My friend is Olive, my other friend is Florence, and I'm playimg Mickey. I was kind of disappointed when I heard this, but now I'm looking forward to it. She's a supposrting character and apparently very funny, and with such a small cast (8 people), this show should be really fun to do.

Today I tried out for our school play, The Cave Dwellers. I really want to be The Girl (there are no names in the play, only Girl, Queen, King, etc.) I would like playing the Queen or the Mother, but the Girl is the part I really want. So I wore a skirt and a ribbon in my hair today. I always do the monologue how I like it when I rehearsing it, but tend to screw it up or do it totally differently during the audition. Today, everything went exactly as planned! I was really happy with how I said it, which is a miracle, because I can't stand monologue auditions. It was a very short monologue, but a prety good one, very dramatic. I almost lost my place in the very beginning, but managed to pick it right up again. The director's being much nicer to me lately- we've never had a good relationship. I'm very happy that there's a co-director; I tend to get cast more when it's not just him doing the casting.

Unfortunately, even though I'm a senior, I most likely will not get a part, and if I do, it probably won't be a main one. It bugged me when I heard one girl outside the audition room saying, "There are only five girl parts- well, really only four, because we know Cheyenne's going to get The Girl." However true it may be, it still bugs me.

Dopes anyone else get kind of annoyed when people rehearse the monologue loudly outside of the audition room? I do. For me, it's actually because I'll listen and if I hear something I like, I'll think, "Ooh, I'll try that," and it ends up backfiring. So these girls were rehearsing the monologue over and over before the audition and I had to hum a little tune to block their voices out. It's great to rehearse your monologue, but do it under your breath or in a different room!

I have another audition in two hours, for the Triple Threats Elite class. I really really want to get in... I love TT anyway, and the Elite class would be amazing. I'm singing 45 seconds of Home from BatB, and I am really really nervous,

Anyway, enough of my rants. The cast list goes up on Wednesday and Odd Couple starts tomorrow- yay!
