| I don't blog often, but I really need to get this off my chest.
I'm a featured dancer in Bye Bye Birdie. I'm so excited to have the featured dance in Lot of Livin, etc. especially because I don't have any dance training and the director chose me for my dedication and potential- that's always nice.
Anyway, we open on halloween and we are STILL BLOCKING. We're two weeks behind schedule and there is still no set and no props. I brought in my own phone for telephone hour and a few others did, too, but that's about it.
We performed telephone hour at the assembly for homecoming and it bombed. I could tell that I was the only one using any type of expression because I was the only one the yearbook photographers were taking pictures of. I saw a picture of all of us later and there's a row of dead faces, then me with a look of elation on my face laying across the floor. The singing wasn't too great, either, we weren't on top of our game, and I hope it won't drive people away from the show.
The people at rehearsal aren't helping, either. While the director gives people blocking, there are about 10 people who consistently talk and talk and TALK in the wings. I understand that some of them are first time actors, but they need to learn how to focus.
In telephone hour, honestly sincere, and ice house livin, one girl in the teen chorus has tried to steal all of my blocking ideas- I'm talking upstaging me, fainting when I was supposed to be fainting, mimicking my every move. I don't know her that well, so I don't feel comfortable saying anything.
We were going to enter the show in regionals, but now we're thinking that isn't the best idea because the thespians don't want to be embarrassed. Keep your fingers crossed that we pull this thing together. We start rehearsals with the orchestra sometime this week, so the blocking better be done by then.
****end rant****
On a high note, I just got a very entertaining phone call where this guy kept asking why I called him and I asked who it was. for about ten minutes. It basically went like this.
me: hello?
him: hello
me: hello?
him: hello
me: Who is this?
him: why did you call me?
me: what?
him: why?
me: What do you mean?
him: why did you call me?
me: who IS this?
him: Why?
me: when?
him: Just now.
me: You called me.
him: oh. *hangs up* |
