I had an audition for the musical Evita yesterday, and here's a little play-by-play:
I walked into the room and realized a few things: 1. everyone was older (i'm in high school, and there were lots of college and older people.yipes.) 2. all of the girls are wearing dresses (i was wearing nice jeans and a blouse, but still. yipes.), and 3. absolutely none of them are talking. i mean, total silence. i know it's rude to be loud but come on! not even a whisper. weird. the auditions were running lately, so i sat. i had forgotten my book so i ran through my music a couple times in my head, and read the newspaper a bit. it seemed to take forever, and i couldn't hear the auditions at all (probably a good thing). so finally my turn. i have worked with this company before, and the stage manager came out and was really happy to see me (i had just closed a show with them a week and a half ago). i walked in and told them (only the stage manager and the director, both very nice) what i would be singing-take that look off your face, from song and dance-and he replied that he loved that song!yay! and i thought i did a pretty good job-was able to hold notes out and didn't forget the sometimes weird lyrics. so we'll see. but even if i don't get in it was a very fun experience! hurrah for good auditions! |
