Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/04 00:24 I've heard alot of the songs, and seen alot of clips..I like the idea as well...It's very creative.I hope to see it one day "Elphie... you mustn't blame yourself. It's dreadful, it is, to have a house fall on you, but accidents will happen..."

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/04 11:08 I agree with you, 21stCenturyEvita. The cursing bothers me, so I haven't really given it much of a chance. To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/04 16:49 I saw it over spring break and fell in love with it. It's an absolutely amazing show, however it's not for the more conservative theatregoer. I personally have no problem with the cursing or the subject matter. I'm actually known to have a bit of a potty mouth when I get riled. But if you don't like cursing, it's hard to like the show. However, if you can get around the language the message is really great and inspiring. Plus, how can you not love the whole rebellious teen thing? -Georgia

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/04 17:12 i've only heard a few of the songs, they're okay (besides the cursing lol). I just don't really like it because its the hot new thing, and two of my theatre friends are completely oBsEsSeD with it. It's more of a rock musical too, i prefer the classical ones but it's still good, it's new and creative, not made from a book or a movie. *´¨)

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/05 13:02 Oh my goodness, I love it! I haven't been lucky enough to see it yet, but I love the soundtrack. It's an interesting idea and I think that there's enough room on B'way for another rock musical.

I can understand the dislike with the cursing, although it doesn't bother me and my potty mouth.

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/05 13:52 Well not too interested. Prefer the more classical then the rock musicals... I just find that they didn't deserve best choreography and music and lyrics... but that's just my opinion.

It does attract people who don't like musicals... it's more of a concert that has a story and like Avenue Q, this is more of a different musical that we haven't seen yet and people love new things.

But thats just my opinion.

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/05 16:22 personally i thought that for the tony awards they made some poor choices, i have some little sisters who were watching the tonys with me, and when they started singing ***** of living i was horrified that they would sing somethnig like that on a nationally broadcasted show. plus, i'm fom a convitive christian family. and swaring is a big no-no in my house. Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/06 11:38 I saw the show back in February, and I thought it was great. The energy on stage was amazing. I also really enjoyed the way the music and the story are kind of disjointed in a way. I would recommend seeing it. I also went to the open casting call in April and it was insane. There was well over 1,200 people there. They started typing people out left and right. But it was an enjoyable and interesting experience.

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/06 22:48 If it were a movie it would be rated R, look at it that way. It is a gorgeous peice of art, and is a wonderful musical but you have to be very open. There is nudity, harsh vocabulary, graphic love scenes, very open sexuality. However, it is done in a tasteful way meant to shock the audience.

I would definetly recommend it, I absolutely loved it. However, if it isn't your thing that's ok too.

Re:Spring Awakening--Your personal opinion - 2007/07/08 22:35 You see Melchior's butt and Wendla's breast. It's a sex scene that is handled very well but definitely shocked me for a second because I didn't know it was coming. It happens during one of the most beautiful songs in the show. I wanted to suggest the song, "I Believe", to my choir director for us to sing but then I thought he might want to know how it fit into the show so I decided not to. -Georgia
