Newsies - 2007/06/22 19:29 Why doesn't anybody perform Newsies as an on stage musical? I saw the movie and i instantly loved it. I especially loved the songs Seize the Day, World Will Know, Santa Fe, and Carrying the Banner. I personally think it would a great production. Upcoming shows: none

Current Shows: none

Recent Shows:
Fame - Actor Ensemble
Ragtime - Immigrant/Fireman/Lifeguard

Re:Newsies - 2007/06/22 22:23 My guess is the severe lack of female roles. Most schools and community theatres (in my surrounding area) have a hard enough time finding enough boys/men for a regular show, so I can only imagine what it would take to cast a basically all male show.

However, I think you will enjoy these clips courtesy of YouTube

Re:Newsies - 2007/07/25 01:14 Newsies is such a great show. A friend of mine introduced me to it last year. I love the choreography the most. It's so masculine and looks real. Unlike West Side Story, the male dancing didn't look wimpy, it looked tough like little boys rough housing. It's a great show, sadly not done on stage very often mostly because you need some seriously talented young boys, which come in very short supply.
