I don't have my script with me. I was cast originally as "chorus" in Gypsy in a local community theatre (this summer, just started rehearsing). I know that I am a Farmboy and Newsboy (girl) but on the email I just got with the cast list it also shows me as "Young Yonkers". Any idea who that is? I've seen the movie but don't remember who that is. I imagine that means I might have a few lines since that is a character name...? Can anybody shed light on who Yonkers is & what Young Yonkers might do?

I'm thinking you may be in the first scene with uncle jocko and it may be the scene that goes on right before baby june. Yonkers is a place in New York, fyi, so maybe they're adding that to a city scene with june and the boys. Re:Question about Gypsy (Musical) - 2007/06/15 12:05The cast list shows me as "Young Yonkers" and it shows somebody else as "Yonkers" so I think it is somebody that is maybe one of the back-up dancers (I'm also a Farmboy & Newsboy) who is with the girls for awhile & so is seen as a child & also as an older character?
I'll check the script tonight to see. It's possible they changed the name or something or it could be something uniqute to this performance, like you said.

You're a newsboy so you're probably playing the young version of him...which means you might have a line or two.
