Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/06/27 22:58 I really enjoy Shoshana Bean as Elphaba, but I do love the OBC sooo much. Megan Hilty and Kristin Chenoweth are my favorite Glindas. "Elphie... you mustn't blame yourself. It's dreadful, it is, to have a house fall on you, but accidents will happen..."

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/06/27 23:48 I think there are going to be lots of singers out there who can sing the role of Glinda well, but I just don't see how they could match the uniqueness of Kristin Chenoweth's voice! She's kinda like the Bernadette Peters of her generation, amplified.

Amen!!!

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/06/28 22:48 I saw Wicked twice. Once with the OBC. When I saw it the second time Jenna Leigh Green was playing Elphaba, and she blew Idina out of the water for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Idina, Jenna was just way better in my opinion. Cheno hands down for G(a)linda though.

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/07/12 09:01 I can't really choose an Elphaba, but Kristin Chenoweth is the best Glinda I've seen. I've also seen a lot of clips of Stacie Morgain Louis (I think I just butchered her name) on YouTube, and I like her singing and acting choices as well.

I HATED Megan Hilty as Glinda! Her voice was spectacular, but her acting was dreadful and just RUINED everything for me. It was the most over-the-top, cheesy, disgusting performance I've ever seen and is one of the reasons I no longer respect Wicked as a musical - Glinda's role seems more farce to me than anything, and hardly any of the Glindas I've seen (in full shows or in clips) have been able to make her actually have some real character to her. Megan Hilty's Glinda might've been great for children with ADHD who feel like they've found their soulmate, but I can't see why anyone else would like her (except maybe for her voice).

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/07/22 11:51 I definitly have to say the original broadway cast, they were the best team by far. They also were the reason why I now have such an obsession with theater & show tunes!

Kristin is so funny, tiny and just plain enjoyable to watch/listen to!

Idina is just absolutely amazing, and astonishgly beautiful. I love Idina to death, but her only flaw is that in songs such as Defying Gravity where there is very loud, high belting, she gasps inbetween EVERY LINE! I'm heard so many different reasons as to why she gasps. I've heard she was a smoker, she has asthma, she has bad breathing technique, etc. If anyone has a definite answer, please tell me ASAP! I would love to know!

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/07/30 14:34 I saw Wicked again last weekend, now my faves are:

Elphaba: Marcie Dodd
Glinda: Kendra Kassebaum/Megan Hilty
Fiyero: NORBERT

Marcie was an understudy, and the BEST Elphaba I have ever seen. She knocked my socks off!
Currently: Dutchess of Detroit
Previously: La Sonnambula
Upcoming: Plaza Suite, Best of Friends

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/08/22 01:03 Galinda - Kristin Chenoweth. There is no other Galinda in my book AT ALL

Elphaba - Eden Espinosa. I saw both Idina and Eden (on her first run with the show) and Eden was absolutely amazing! BUT I have to give Idina props for improving with Kristin's bed didn't come out during Popular: "For Heaven's sakes! It's her second to last show! Give the girl a bed!"
