i have not seen wicked yet. my parents have seen it several times. they prefer shoshana bean as elphaba and megan hilty (i think) as galinda. i have to check w/ them on that! They call me Jessica (like: They call me lady luck... lol)

Re:Who do you think does Elphaba or Glinda best? - 2007/06/16 20:51who are you whoing? if it is coleen, i can answer that... ever see the video of jekyll and hyde w/ david hasselhoff? coleen is lucy. that was her b'way debut (replacing linda eder). she went on to do lots of tours including chess and jcs. she's also done a lot of tv work, like law and order. i thought she was the standby elphaba for the tour, but maybe she's now the regular? (i know "so" much about her b/c she is a jersey girl and she's my age... i never worked w/ her b/c we grew up in different parts of the state, but she had her beginnings in middlesex county community theatre... )They call me Jessica (like: They call me lady luck... lol)

As for those who filled the role after she left, I don't really have a strong opinion, but I just watched clips of Shoshana Bean and Eden Espinosa on YouTube, and I definitely prefer Eden. Shoshanna was talented, but her voice had a rougher, older edge to it. I preferred the innocence in Eden's tone.
I think there are going to be lots of singers out there who can sing the role of Glinda well, but I just don't see how they could match the uniqueness of Kristin Chenoweth's voice! She's kinda like the Bernadette Peters of her generation, amplified.-- Kari
