Re:video of me singing - 2007/06/11 08:59 I agree - it's a little nasal. Try elongating your mouth when you sing (open it the long way, if you look at your video it is very wide) and that should help you focus the sound and improve your vowels. _____________

Re:video of me singing - 2007/06/11 11:51 I second their remarks. Overall, it sounds good, but it seems as though you're singing it too maturely. You seem fairly young, and the song is written for a little girl (I'm guessing 6-11 years old). So, I recommend that you don't sing it like a "pop"-ish teenager. As Kris suggested, opening your mouth a little more will prevent being nasal, as well as help your vowels and annunciation. Also, if I were singing this song, I'd try to sing it "sweet and young" - it fits the song better, and can make a huge difference in your tone!

But don't be discouraged! You definitely have a lot of potential!

Re:video of me singing - 2007/06/11 15:19 I agree with Kris and Lisa. Make your vowels taller and sing more from your diaphragm. It will really improve your sound, which is already pretty good. Name: Stefani

What, is there something in my teeth? Is my underskirt showing? All right, lets just get this over with. No, I am not seasick. Yes, I have always been green. No, I did not eat grass as a child - Elphaba

If that were the case, I'd be a bit disturbed by these lyrics:

"I'm a girl men go mad for love's a game I can play with cool and confident kind of air."

No wonder we have so many dirty old men in theatre!

Cinderella is usually played between 16-20, but she's also very sheltered and naive, so perhaps that's where you got confused.

Oops, there was a bit of a mix-up here! I'm very sick and wrote my comment early this morning and I guess I didn't proof read! Here's what I MEANT to say:

You seem fairly young, and the song is not written for a little girl. So, I recommend that you don't try to sing it like a "pop"-ish teenager.

Pahahaha. Oh how embarassed I am! Ignore that little mix-up!

Re:video of me singing - 2007/06/15 12:18 It sounds like you are not breathing through your diaphragm. You would be able to hold out the notes longer. Make sure you take a breath before each line you sing.
You can tell if your breathing is correct if, when you take a deep breath, your shoulders don't go up. Only your stomach should go out and you should release air through your singing. Also open your mouth a little wider and keep your chin down. It may feel weird at first but it will provide for a richer sound.
But it was very cute. You seem well on your way to having a lovely voice.

Re:video of me singing - 2007/06/15 22:21 Have you had any vocal training? You have a nice voice that with some work and proper technique, it could be something great.

Keep working and get some lessons if you haven't already!

Re:video of me singing - 2007/06/16 16:24 Thank you so much. No I have not had any formal vochal training. The closest I have gotten to that was when I met with my chior teacer privately to prepare for a music festival with her. But I only met with her privately twice. I am taking a summer musical theater workshop this summer that starts monday. Im so excited! and if I am correct, thay said Everyone would spend time working with the teacher privately on a song. I chose a belting song because I am not a good belter at all and it could really help me. Thanks for all the positive and constructive comments. short and lovin it!!!!!
