-Your 10-year-old cousin adores Hannah Montana and thinks that High School Musical is one of the greatest things of all time , and when you try to get her to listen to Look Down from Les Mis, or Drew Sarich singing Bring Him Home, (get this), she completely ignores you and is primping her hair in the mirror and talking all the way through the song. You want to throttle her, but you don't... because it's her birthday.
But you swear on your Les Mis T-shirt that, the next time you, your cousin, and your cousin-in-law who is one of the family's musical theatre authorities (other than yourself), are at any sort of family function together, you are going to have to have a Broadway intervention, because you will not be able to go on if anyone related to you refuses to listen to GOOD musical theatre.
(Seriously, I'm so ticked about this. Can't you tell?)

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/04/17 21:04I'm really sorry if somebody already any of these but I didn't have time to read the whole list (though just about all that I read completely applied to me, and a lot of people I know) ~You and your friends throw people dirty looks when they say the name of the Scottish play even when you're not in a theatre ~You hear people talking about how they just saw High School Musical on Ice or Hannah Montana and you mentaly throw up. (I'm sorry if anyone on here likes High School Musical or Hannah Montana, no offense is meant) Oh, and I agree with the one about knowing everybody else's lines. Two of my friends and I could almost recite the play we were in by heart, (And we tried to frequently)

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/04/19 01:41~You've puked between scenes because of the flu, but refuse to go home because you have worked too hard to let a little sickness keep you away.

~ This is totally me! We don't even get someone on crew as a prompter, I just stage whisper during rehearsals and feed lines. Usually I have it all memorized before rehearsals even start, because I'm friends with our director and usually have a bit of input (lucky me) as to what we do.
~When you're with your non theatre friends you mention an inside joke and get all blank stares. ~you've gotten almost kicked out of iHop with your cast. (one girl had her backstage laser pointer and was shining it in this waitresses eyes and she came over and was pissed) ~you have traditions before going onstage that are very strange (ie our director reads us a childrens picture book for the pigeon series.Current Role: Louise Lerman/Eve (Judy's Assistant) in "Ruthless!" by Marvin Laird.
