Aladdin: the musical. - 2007/05/14 11:07 OK, so I know I'm in a production right now, but I sort of like to plan my next auditions ahead, and do some research, and on top of the fact, I'm bored at school at the moment.
I (may) be auditioning for a production of Aladdin on August 25th, but I'm not really sure of the music in the show and things. I mean it's not like I haven't seen the movie but I'm kind of trying to avoid doing that.

The only production that I've been able to research and get a synopsis from is for "Aladdin Jr", and the production isn't a "Jr." production. Does anyone know anything about this fully staged version?

I'd love to know!

The part I decide to audition for I'll supply at a later date, because I havent memorized all my lines for cogsworth yet! LOL, I'm getting better at this time management stuff.

- Please, let me know guys

Re:Aladdin: the musical. - 2007/05/30 17:29 I was Genie when my school did it, and it's a junior production. The only other Aladdin show that I've found is the Chinese version of the story, and it's not Disney. If it's the Disney one, then it's junior. All the characters are the same, so watching the movie is not a bad idea. The only reason Genie was a little different was because I'm a girl, and so I had to play him/her differently. Hey yo!
Let's go to the mo-fro (Melody Freeze),
To get a fro yo (frozen yogurt),
then we'll stop by the scho-sho (Scholorshop),
on our way to WYSO (World Youth Symphony Orchestra)!

Just a little saying from Interlochen, possibly one of the greatest places on the globe!

Re:Aladdin: the musical. - 2007/05/30 21:21 There's a Cole Porter version of Aladdin that isn't Disney. There's also a "hip-hop style" version that's touring (came through my city last year) with a WWE wrestler as the Genie... I didn't see it, didn't look like my cup of tea

I might look at some Stephen Schwartz stuff, he's done some Disney/Animated movies and it's more contemporary sounding. I can't think of anything specific offhand..
