next month, a local ct is doing . i've never seen a staged production of it.... what do you think?
also, i am not sure if i should audition for a specific part. though i think i can see myself as a dolly, i don't think i can see myself as an auntie mame (they are both herman musicals and similar characters). i also think, though the age range for mame is pretty big, that i am a little too young for this role now. what do you think of gooch? their vocal ranges/styles are pretty different so i am not sure if i should find a song somewhere in the middle or just sing something in the style of the show and have the director call me for whatever he sees fit... what do you think?
also, how do you feel about a male playing the part of mame? this is a friend's dream role. i think he would be good, but 1) guys already have a million and one roles written for them, and 2) is the community ready for it? i know drag works in something like RSH, but what about mame? see: article kris posted in an earlier forum topic
