Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/28 07:34 Um... yes? LOL. At school, we kind of leanr a combination of everything, to make us well-rounded, I suppose, and to give us a choice of different styles o choose from. Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Currently In: Nothing

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/28 07:36 After researching last night, I'd say I'm a representational actor with a tiny bit of method in me. I don't know what natural is. Favorite role: King Bull Sparra in The Legend of Redwall Abbey

Current role : Kratnoff the History Buff in High School Musical.

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/28 15:26 I think that I am method (don't hit me!). I've gotten into the whole series of books from him, and so much of what he says makes sense and appeals to me and has helped my acting significantly. I just know that method people get a lot of gripe, so I'll stop right there before the fruit starts flying

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/29 13:28 I'm not sure what I am. What I do when I prepare for a character: I got this list of questions off the internet. They start very easy, like "List three physical characteristics of your character" but end very hard, like "What is this person's blind spot? What person, idea, or institution does this person delude him/herself about?" And then from my conclusions from that, I come up with my own questions. Like, right now, I'm preparing for a Mary Lennox audition. A question I came up with was "Why is she so much more interested in Lily and her tragedy than in her own tragedy?" I'm not sure if there's a name for that, but that's what I do. Psalm 42:8

All the world's a stage....

Currently: Ensign Cora MacRae in South Pacific
Just finished: The Ayah in the Secret Garden

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/29 20:55 I haven't been trained in any specific style...since I haven't been trained at all! But in my own way of acting I definitely lean more towards representational acting...although I probably mix the other styles in without realizing. But I almost always try to "get into the character's skin" and feel what the character is feeling, thinking, etc. I understand that to be representational acting...at least from what I read on the internet. Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/29 23:49 I took acting classes in college, but I have no idea what type of acting it was (nor am I sure the teacher did). However, I definitely know what kind of actor I am--mediocre!

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/04/30 09:31 Why do method actors get all kinds of garbage for being so? I'm most comfortable with method acting because I feel I deliver a much more convincing performance if I am deriving from emotions I have actually experienced. But that's me, I understand that everyone does things differently; wat I don't understand is why methods get stoned. ~*~Angelina~*~

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/05/02 18:07 Likewise, I find my performances are better rounded now that I've started being a method actor. I think it's because people see method as just a bunch of people sitting around trying to make themselves cry or get angry, or really an excuse to be Bi-Polar. Bah, I say to these people, BAH!

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/05/02 18:11 I think I am closer to representational then the rest..except I can't find what natural is! I have been looking but I can't find a definition, someone want to give me one? The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/05/19 09:30 Natural acting is a new term I also couldn't find much on the internet about it.
it is a METHOD ha ha - where you use your "natural instincts" rather than BECOMING the character. Questions you ask yourself
"What would the natural response of the character be?"
"What is the actual feeling the character feels, but does not disclose"
and so on.....

It is Method acting to a point, but not that one must be in character the entire show.

Method actors.. why the fruit flies?
If you are a TRUE method actor (which are rare) you are in character the entire time you are at the theater. The minute you walk through the door you ARE the character.
You do not answer to your own name etc.
There are few true Method actors anymore - most probably now fall into the natural area.

There is one true method actor at our theater - you MUST call him by his character name etc. From the first read through to closing night. It is a BORE!

Me, I walk onstage in character - when I am offstage most of the time I am just me again, and "Turn it on" when I walk out on stage again.
Guess I fall into the natural category.
Currently Directing -
Sweeney Todd (March 2008)

Currently In - Jan 11 - Feb 3 2008
Moonlight And Magnolias - Ben Hecht (non musical)

Re:What kind of Actor are you? - 2007/05/19 16:09 I definitely think I fall into the natural category. Though, I have never really been formally trained (except a few classes when I was younger). I jsut step onstage and become the character. I'm Samantha. But you can call me Sam.

Favorite Roles:
Rosie - Bye, Bye Birdie
Mrs. Paroo - The Music Man

Current Role: Footloose - Eleanor Dunbar (also Assistant Director)
