Re:I Finally Got A Video Up! - 2007/03/22 01:38 Good for you. I think it's very brave of you to put your voice on YouTube at all. That's more than a lot of people do.

Before I coment, I have three questions about your voice:

1) How old are you?

2) Have you had any formal training at all?

3) When you listen to the track, what do *you* think of it? Are you pleased with it ... critical of it?

I think knowing these things will help me give you the most useful feedback.

Re:I Finally Got A Video Up! - 2007/03/22 15:04 I agree, I would never have the guts to post a video of me singing on YouTube! So brava for you

Listening to your song, I heard a nice voice. But, I really don't think this was the best song choice for you. Especially since you're only 12 (trust me, I'm 13. I know ), belting is a lot harder than when your voice matures. So I personally think head-voice songs would show off your voice better than "No Good Deed". But since that song is hard, props to you for trying.

I would love to hear you sing something more suitable for your age and voice...maybe a ballad?

I'm 13

I haven't had any training at all

It's OK...the track...I'm working on the song, that's not my best one. I'm critical of my own voice.

Re:I Finally Got A Video Up! - 2007/03/22 23:25 The fact that you're 13 is great. I think you have definite potential and an obvious love of music, so I'd really encourage you to hook up with a good voice teacher who could help you with breathing and more fully supporting your sound, which is really going to help you with your pitch.

I remember my own voice when I was 13 ... I'm an "old lady" now at 29! Anyway, I started taking lessons when I was about your age and it took me a good 2 years until I had even begun to truly understand what proper breathing was all about. By the time I was 18, I had a whole new voice, and I've continued taking lessons on and off ever since. I highly recommend it as a way to get to know your own abilities and improve your voice -- at any age. I'm still learning things now that I wish I had known before.

Good luck!
Kari
