so... we opened.... - 2007/03/10 17:01 we opened thurs and close tonight. all that work for 2 months and only 3 shows.... this is really the only group i do stuff w/ that has such a long rehearsal period and so few shows.

anyway, i'll tell you, it was a very interesting experience this year. lots of cattiness i didn't see last year. i need to keep a positive attitude right now since we still have another show so maybe i will rant another time. i ended up bonding w/ a few of the cast members-- some of the more "professional" ones... i.e.-- not the divas. you know-- the people who do theatre b/c they love it not b/c the world revolves around them! the people who have done enough theatre who know that no matter how much talent you have, there are times that you can't always get the part you want, and while it's okay to be a little disappointed that you don't get it, you have to get over it and move on and just perform....

anyway, opening night was pretty good. until the big scene i'm in. they guy playing my husband jumped 3 pages of dialogue. he went right to the end of the scene. several of us ad libbed to get all of the important stuff in that he skipped but then there were crickets. since it was supposed to be our exit right before the song, i said, "i think i'll go off and make some refreshments". i should have been more specific b/c my husband nor the other character followed me. i don't even know if what i said was audible. i've been kicking myself b/c i am at improv but nothing was coming to me. oh, well. last night was better, but get this-- the guy wrote all of his dialogue on his hands...... someone in the cast said, "good for him. at least he's trying." i bit my tongue and thought, "after 2 months of rehearsal, you should know your lines!!!! especially when you only have 5!!!" again, oh, well.... c'est la vie, n'est-ce pas?

in an hour, i will be getting into make-up and the lights will be burning.... (little sunset boulevard paraphrasing.... )
They call me Jessica (like: They call me lady luck... lol)

Favorite roles:

Eva Peron, Evita; Jack's Mother, Into the Woods; Sonia, Godspell; Anything Goes, Reno Sweeney; Audrey, Little Shop of Horrors; Catherine, Pippin

Re:so... we opened.... - 2007/03/10 19:03 LOL, I confess. I once wrote a few of my lines on my hand, too. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get them in the right order for the one scene. I didn't go all Mulan with it, but I wrote the last word of my cue and the first word of the next line for the scene... it was rally stressful actually, so I think I'll stick to actually memorizing my lines. Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Currently In: Nothing
