Peter Pan Auditions - 2006/11/25 04:59
For the spring musical, my school has chosen to do Peter Pan. We have a huge space for the performance and they've even hired a company that is going to wire us and fly us. Cool, right?
Auditions are in mid-December and I'm looking for an audition song. My voice is pretty well trained and I can sing just about anything (I've done everything from Etta James jazz to soprano Italian arias). I'm hoping and praying for either the role of Peter (a long shot) or Wendy (a bit more realistic).
We only need a song, any genre or period or show, as long as it isn't from the actual show of Peter Pan.
My belting voice goes up to the C in the middle of the treble clef, sometimes the D flat or D when I'm well warmed-up. I know that Peter's songs are pretty low for a woman and involve some belting, but I know nothing about Wendy's songs.
My head voice is well controlled and my transitions are pretty good. Are there any suggestions out there for a song that could maybe combine a strong head voice and strong belt? I really just want to make the audition as good as I can.
Any suggestions are appreciated!! Thanks!
