Male/Female Duet - 2006/11/14 13:31 Yes, not so much an audition, but we are searching for a song.

He's a baritone, I'm a soprano, and we're looking for a comedic song for a competition in February. Unfortunately, "Anything You Can Do," the song we'd been planning to do, was done last year and won, so we want to find something else.

We're both pretty versatile actors and singers, but we're a little more interested in comedy than musicianship for this competition. We've considered "Sue Me" from Guys and Dolls, and "The Song that Goes Like This" from Spamalot. Since our director can't find her big book of duets, and the two of us can't think of anything else, I thought I'd advertise on this site a little.

If anybody has any suggestions, please respond!

Thanks!
Kris

Re:Male/Female Duet - 2006/11/16 18:26 The only things I can think of are "Two Lost Souls" from Damn Yankees (I'm pretty sure) and "There Once Was A Man" from The Pajama Game. Is that the smell of sulfur?
Oh its a stage effect!

Release your davits and jump!

-I've had a vision!
-Of disaster?
-No, of azaleas!

There is a curious paradox that no one can explain: who understands the secrets of the reaping of the grain? Who understands why spring is born out of winter's laboring pain, or why we all must die a bit before we grow again? I do not know the secret, although I know it's true. I hurt them for that reason. And myself a little bit too.

Re:Male/Female Duet - 2006/11/17 21:26 I was going to say "If I Told You" from The Wedding Singer but that's not quite comedic... Shelby

Re:Male/Female Duet - 2006/11/23 20:02 My suggestion echoes one previously suggested. "Song That Goes Like This" from Spamalot would be marvelous, especially considering the voice parts of the two people involved (you are your friend). It's truly quite hysterical and offers some room for movement and expression as the characters.
