My strength is my commitment. once I am in a show I'd do anything for it.

Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/04/28 16:00I've been thinking about this one the past few days; here's mine: Strengths: - I learn music quickly (I sight read), and memorize it easily, so I don't require much one-on-one time with the musical director - I am a very reliable performer: I meet off-book deadlines, and I am consistent in my performance (blocking, etc) during shows (I've recently realized how important this is, after having worked with some "unpredictable" people)
Weaknesses: - I don't take enough risks, because I am a perfectionist and afraid of looking silly in front of those I don't know very well - I don't feel the "magic" until I have an audience in front of me; this causes directors who haven't worked with me before to express concern over my lackluster acting, and then after they see opening night, say, "Where did THAT come from?"

Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/04/28 21:28Strengths: -I pick up script and score quickly, so I know other peoples roles as well as my own early in the rehearsal process. (I usually end up being like 14 unofficial understudies) -I see myself as incredibly dedicated, on stage and off. I'm always there to do whatever the director needs done. -I take risks on a regular basis and play around with my characterization. I try to make every performance and rehearsal a little different.
Weaknesses: -I tend to be really negative about the performances of myself and others without realizing it. -My dance technique is incredibly lacking. I desperately need training in this area. -I've been told that sometimes I get too into my character and lose myself in scenes.

I'm sure it's not all bad! The point of this exercise is to point out areas to improve, not put ourselves down. What specifically should you work on?_____________ Kris MTA Admin

Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/04/28 22:01My weaknesses: Dancing, being impatient, and overreacting about whatever may be going on behind the scenes that could hurt a show

Weaknesses: - I'm very hard on myself without realizing it. People are starting to notice lol. But i do so many dumb, awkward things even while not onstage anyway. I hate being 15.
- My singing voice is really thin and air-y, and not very musical-theatre at all. and to get a vibrato, it really seems i have to work harder than other people my age. I get very tired, and they are still fine... ehh....
Strenghts: - I'm (almost) a walking musical theatre anthology, lol. I know of some musicals my friends don't even know (or ones that arent very popular), and I love way too many. I also love too many performers. There are only a certain few shows or actors I find boring or just despise.
- Umm..... I don't know........since I basically have no social life and only a few buddies, I'm usually present for every rehearsal (unless i have dance or voice lessons), and I find being onstage more fun than being backstage.
- oh.... hehe..... and I never really get tired of singing/hearing the same songs over and over, I still love them*´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•´ Annie

-Can memorize lines easily. -Pick up songs quickly (a survival strategy since I can't read music) -Adapt to change (blocking, etc.) well. -Though I hate it, I'm good at improv, says my teacher. -I'm great at cold readings. -I am very, very dedicated.
Weaknesses:
-Harmonizing- I'm horrible! -Volume control (this is weird to say because when I first started vice lessons, I was told I'd probably never get big parts because I could not project and sing at the same time. Now, three years later, I'm being told to quiet down a little) -SPEED! I talk so fast when I'm saying lines... and the worst part is, I can't tell, so it's hard for me to adjust it. -Dance; really not my forte. I have a huge problem memorizing routines. -Though I'm less inhibited than I used to be, I am still afraid to try new things sometimes. -I "save" stuff for the performance. By this, I don't mean I add lines and blocking. But I don't go ALL out during rehearsals- I save that for the audience. So usually, after opening night, the director's like, "Where did that come from?!" with a mixture of happiness and annoyance.Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/04/30 09:31Strengths- ~Learn lines quickly (everyones after about two practices) ~Good projection ~Takes direction well ~Semi-strong head voice Weaknesses- ~Head voice (ugh) (This will sound strange, but) ~Knowing what to do with my hands onstage ~Crying on command (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)Current Role: Louise Lerman/Eve (Judy's Assistant) in "Ruthless!" by Marvin Laird. Recently: Lala Levy in "The Last Night of Ballyhoo" by Alfred Uhry. blog:: thedramagirl.blogspot.com

-I project well with my speaking voice. -Emotions (such as sadness, anger, etc) are not hard for me to show when the scene calls for it -Good at improv -Can pick up songs fairly easily (I too cannot read music!)
Weaknesses:
-Fairly nervous when singing (I'm just having a hard time getting over it...) -DONT EVER know what to do with my hands unless I'm specifically told. -I have never been trained in dance but I try to do my best and have fun anyway! -I have become somewhat of a diva, I guess you could say, with certain directors...And even though I know I'm doing it, I can't seem to stop. And then I feel bad about it!Currently in: Thoroughly Modern Millie (Gloria/Mathilde/Ensemble)
Recently: You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Lucy)

Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/05/04 13:22Strengths: Can remember pitch fairly well (it comes from having a 'musical ear) Acting (I like to think so! ) Memorization
Weaknesses Like Kris said, not really getting into performance until opening night, and also being sort of a 'perfectionist.' I need to loosen up more Waay too hard on myself. Can't really seem to want to practice much...which is bad "Dancelexia" Projecting when singing (I just can't seem to get it...)Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!

Strengths: -I am good with humor and can be a versitile actor. -I am great at sight reading and memorization. -Very deticated. -Have a constantly improving British accent and Cockney accent. Whoot!Name: Devyn
