Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/12/24 00:50 -you learn to embrace your own craziness
-you can count on one hand the number of straight guys you hang out with
-you think the "No Fear Shakespeare" books are for wimps (you already know all of the plays your English teacher could assign anyway)
-when you read a play in English you can't help acting even if everyone else is just reading it like their nearly dead
-when you watch the movie version of RENT you sing tover the spoken dialogue with the lyrics from the actual show ( while your friends give you dirty looks)
-you harmonize with friends in the checkout line at CVS while people give you amazed looks
-bobby pins are an acceptable Xmas present
-you refuse to say the name of the Scottish play even if you're nowhere near a theatre
-you're not afraid of ghosts cuz almost every theatre you've worked at has at least one
-when you find out someone is a conservative your first instinct is to run away(maybe this one is just me)
-you consider the theatre to be as sacred as a church
-Georgia

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/12/24 21:48 When singing 'O Little Town Of Bethlehem" in church, you and your friends begin to sing 'La Vie Boheme' after the first verse...accidentally, of course! Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!

That is so true! We were doing it in chorus and I was amazed that NO ONE replied with "we raise our glass, you bet your ass to..."

Ha, too true. I'm reading Hamlet yet again for English this year. I love it, but I kind of know all about it already, so it's a drag to discuss stuff during class.

-when you read a play in English you can't help acting even if everyone else is just reading it like their nearly dead

This drives me nuts! I never know whether to act or not, if people will think I'm stupid. But it drives me crazy to hear people reading, "To. Be. Or. Not. To. Be. That. Is. The... Question." Oh, is it? Because my question ws why you were chosen to read this.

-you refuse to say the name of the Scottish play even if you're nowhere near a theatre[/qupte]

I rarely ever say it, even if I'm not in a theatre.
Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Currently In: Nothing

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/12/31 13:46 -your friends look at you as a cough drop authority
-You see a director you worked with once, five years ago, on the street and you run up and hug her and start singing songs from the show
-This doesn't surprise her in the least
-You mourn the lack of reality shows that focus on theatre. And no, 'Grease-You're the one that I want' does NOT count.
-Ali

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/01/02 10:09 ~ Your life is practically over when a local theatre company is doing The Sound of Music and you can't audition. (This has happened. I was ticked.) Name: Stefani

What, is there something in my teeth? Is my underskirt showing? All right, lets just get this over with. No, I am not seasick. Yes, I have always been green. No, I did not eat grass as a child - Elphaba

This bugs me so much. When our class did mid summer night's dream, the casting was "random" and the girly cliquey girls got parts like Lysander...

You know you're a theatre kid if...
you are unhappy unless you are at a rehearsal. (and consequently do 2+ consecutive/ overlapping productions)

You cry (or at least dispair) when discovering your school is painting sets the ONLY days ALL break that you are going to be away. (lol seeing more plays/musicals)
Current: none
Upcoming: Les Miserables ('09)
Recent:
Peter Pan- Crocodile
