Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/09/27 23:20 You know you're a theatre kid when you have all the lyrics to every Stephen Sondheim show memorized by heart.....you throw your feet up on your desk during Drama class, put on your iPod and start lip-syncing to "The Ladies Who Lunch" from Company in response to all the bozos sitting around you who don't care about great theatre.

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/10/06 14:42 When your teacher asks you to define "Anarchy" you say "Revolution, justice, screaming for solutions, forcing changes, risk and danger, making noise and making pleas!" (same goes for music) Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/10/07 16:47 ~ Your friends have stopped watching movies that have musicals with you (such as Oliver Twist, Les Miserables, or the original Hairspray) because you make them pause the movie whenever there should be a song so you can sing it.

~You go to see Hairspray at the movies and sing along despite the fact that the theater is packed.
This isn't a golf tournament, being loud is more than acceptable!

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/10/19 15:14 After hearing about a cat-fight that happened during the lunch hour at school, you excitedly say "Who and what and why and where?" Then as an afterthought you add - "Let him give a full description, let him answer to Javert!"

Then as your non-theatre friends look at you like this 0_o you say "....never mind. What happened!?"

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/10/19 18:13 when your voice teacher is choosing songs that are light and easy to work on, you push them all away, because none of them have the familiar over the top emotion like broadway songs do.

haha this happened to me a few days ago. but i did take home one song from pirates of penzance. unfortunately my teacher told me i don't have a musical theatre voice, just a "light and lyrical" one. which kinda means im useless... but i'm working on it....

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/10/19 18:29 strikealight: That is sooo typical of me.

When you're trying to come up with a symbol for your organization, you suggest 'red- the blood of angry men, black- the dark of ages past' in your best Enjolras belt until the librarian comes over and kicks you out...in which case, you sing Fantine's lines from Fantines' Arrest...

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2007/10/19 19:18 - Most of what you know about the writing of the Declaration of Independence is from 1776 and, when you learn about it in History, you get really excited when you read a line in the Declaration that is talked about as an addition to the document in the show.

- Also, when you see the names of the signers at the end of the Declaration, you get excited when you see the name Edward Rutledge and think about how great the guy who played him was in the production you saw recently.

- You watch the most recent non-singing movie adaptation of Les Miserables is the same History class and, while watching, think about which song from the musical would go in the part you are currently watching and compare the two (by the way, the ending in the musical is MUCH better than the one in the 1995 movie).
Peace!
Sarah
