Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/05/04 21:25 Strengths:
Harmonizing

Projection when Speaking (I'm always being told to quiet down..hehe)

Coming to rehearsals. On time.

Weaknesses:
Okay, I'll admit it, I'm a bit of a control freak. I worry when actors aren't at call on time or are late getting dressed. I'm trying to stop and just worry about myself, but I just want everything to go well!

Dance. I've never really had any lessons, so...

Getting into character and letting go of myself. So I see too much of my personality in what I'm playing.
I'm Micaela. But you can call me Mickey!

Currently: Yonah in Children of Eden. Indian in Peter Pan.

Dream Roles- Lucy in YGMCB, Penny in Hairspray (She's hysterical!), Anything in Oklahoma. (I've always wanted to do that show......)

Re:Assignment #10 - Strengths & Weaknesses - 2008/05/04 22:46 weaknesses

i am not a trained dancer "dancer". most of what i know is from the shows i've been in and hard work (so i guess it's a mixed strength/weakness)

i am way too critical of myself and recently have not dealt well w/ rejection. this leads to self-doubt and the inability to recognize my talent/sometimes it's more than talent that gets you the role.

i get easily annoyed by people who don't know what they are doing, specifically musical directors. when rhythms and pitches and enunciation is wrong i cringe.

speaking of cringing, i am horrible about hiding emotions regarding those things-- esp pitches. i think i've gotten better about making faces or exhibiting some sort of body language, but i know i have to keep working on it!

i expect to be judged on talent (almost) alone. (i understand looks matter, but i think talent should trump looks...)

strengths

i am very organized and prepared. even if an audition is last minute, i have a repertoire book of songs (which i have rehearsed) from the different time periods and styles of music and i can pull a song and just brush it up. i am always working on new songs to add, too.

i have a very good ear. i have great tonal memory. i read music and i read it well.

i've got a really broad vocal range.

i'm a good actor.

i'm a quick study.

i don't miss rehearsals. i'm focused and dedicated.

i am not a diva!

i like to challenge myself.

and despite periods of self-doubt and wanting to give all of this up, i always pick up and try another audition. when the time and place is right, good things will come.
They call me Jessica (like: They call me lady luck... lol)

Favorite roles:

Eva Peron, Evita; Jack's Mother, Into the Woods; Sonia, Godspell; Anything Goes, Reno Sweeney; Audrey, Little Shop of Horrors; Catherine, Pippin
