There is actually a musical/opera company in Japan called Takarazuka that is 100% female. They've done shows like Phantom and West Side Story with an all female cast. Now, I haven't heard any of the music from those shows, so I don't know how it sounds, but the visuals from their shows are stunning.
So yeah... learn Japanese and get over there and you're set!
Oh, and I saw a local all female production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and it was a hoot!

Re:Dream roles that you can't have.... - 2008/01/02 18:36^Actually, a theatre near me did this, and one of my directors was in it. I didn't see it, but it sounded cool because they reversed the genders of the roles (I can't recall what play it was, but it was Shakespeare.)Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.
Currently In: Nothing

Re:Dream roles that you can't have.... - 2008/01/28 01:08Of course I would like the roles of boys and be able to sing a lot of their song, and yet be a girl.(I feel like Jo in LW)
But yeah, ever since I saw it I wanted to play Frederick in YF. His songs are amazing!!
And then Val in Chorus Line, but I can't dance and don't think I'll ever have that " "perfect" figure". Sadness
And then Leo in The Producers would be fun too and Princeton or Rod in Avenue Q.
Hahaha, I'm learning Japanese...if only I could eat fish I would move there and become a big Broadway(in Japan...) star. Cool.
I especially would love to play Laurie in Little Women. He's always been a favorite character of mine from the books, and his musical character is just so kind, and "Take a Chance on Me" has to be one of my favorite songs!

Re:Dream roles that you can't have.... - 2008/04/15 01:07Lovett (Sweeney)- my accent makes me sound like a dying animal Marcy Park (Spelling Bee)- I look Israeli. Shelley (Bat Boy)- Can't hit half the notes in Inside Your Heart Man In Chair (Drowsy Chaperone)- ....I'm not a man Leaf Coneybear (Spelling Bee)- Im a girl Elphaba (Wicked)- I can belt, but NOT like that

Nala (Lion King) - white as a sheet Simba (Lion King) - pasty and a girl Valjean (Les Mis) - girl (I would KILL to get to sing "Bring Him Home") Marius (Les Mis) - girl (ditto as above, but with Empty Chairs...) Gavroche (Les Mis) - girl, too old Enjolras (Les Mis) - not a guy Grantaire (Les Mis) -not a guy (do you see a pattern?) Annie (Annie) - too old, dark brown hair (but my friends say I still look young enough to pull it off) Cinderella (Into the Woods) - could never EVER hit those high notes, plus it's SONDHEIM Glinda (Wicked) - same as above, without the Sondheim Leo (The Producers) - not a guy Marcy Park (Spelling Bee) - not Asian Ariel (Little Mermaid) - LOTS of dark hair, pale skin (makes for a bad combo if you want to look auburn)
Roles I Might Be Able to Someday Achieve: Fantine (Les Mis) - little more work on the lower range, I need a more mature sound Mrs. Potts (Beauty and the Beast) - still too young
Also, I need to learn how to dance... A LOT BETTER. Also, my stamina could use some work. A LOT of work.

Re:Dream roles that you can't have.... - 2008/04/15 23:19Narrator (Does he have a name?) in Blood Brothers- Female Soprano. Leaf in Spelling Bee- Alas, female again! Tracy in Hairspray- I don't quite have the look. Or the stamina. Mary Lennox- A wee bit too old for that I am. And my english accent sucks.
And for some reason, ever since I saw Legally Blonde, I've wanted to be one of the three featured "Greek Chorus" sorority girls. Don't know if that's possible or not, but it could be fun!I'm Micaela. But you can call me Mickey!
Currently: Taking a much needed BREAK!
Dream Roles- Lucy in YGMCB, Penny in Hairspray (She's hysterical!), Anything in Oklahoma.

Re:Dream roles that you can't have.... - 2008/04/25 18:15I would absolutly love to be Val in a Chorus Line, and while i have the parts her song illustrates (if you know what i mean), im not "perfect" enough in other respects.
also i would love to be carlota in phantom, but my high D is not exactly that beautiful...Past Productions: Chicago (Ensemble) Currently: Into the Woods (Little Red Ridinghood), Petite Rouge (Mama Duck)
