Re:Tech Week Fun - 2008/04/12 20:23 these are more of traditions, but:

the last day of tech before we open at a particular theater, we walk down to the pizza place that we are all addicted to-in costume- and get dinner.

And there is a witeboard backstage that we write stuff on- notes to the people in the other show in repertory theatre- and they write back to us. It's very calming to know you have a support group.

And at school, we of course have the secret sleepover in the auditorium.

Re:Tech Week Fun - 2008/04/15 15:59 I have tech rehearsal tomorrow, i am pretty excited, but i am also hoping people actually come in full costume AND make-up this year, so we don't have to waste time!!! anyways...i do have a lucky charm, it is my lucky bracelet,(it has a gold fairy charm on it and i made it myself!) but i can never wear it onstage ( ) so i just bring it with me and keep it in my bag, but i wear it A LOT for auditions.

Before a performance, we have prayer circle, and we pray that everything will go well. We also do those things teams do with their hands in the middle of the circle and then we all cheer. Last year, on closing night we all danced in the dressing room before the show to get are energy level up and in the girls dressing room we had Karaoke!!!

As for not getting sick, AIRBORNE, and before i sing, i have mint herbal tea, to clear my throat.
-Laura

Favorite Musical: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!!! As for more "happy" musicals i like BATB and Music Man (and lots of others, that i can't think of right now!)

Next production: R&H Cinderella?

Re:Tech Week Fun - 2008/04/15 19:32 I don't consider myself one of those crazy superstitious performers, but I do have a weird thing about rehearsing the curtain call (which is usually a tech week thing).

I never do a "real" bow during the curtain call rehearsals - I just sort of bob my head and/or bend my knees. And I think it's REALLY bad luck to clap/cheer for the other performers while rehearsing the curtain call.

Anybody else do this?

I have a director who won't even block the curtain call until the 45 minute call before the first show!

If I am in an isolated space (i.e. dressing room) I always bring my humidifier. And I usually end up leading a vocal and physical warm-up (if the directors don't do one) a half hour before we start. I Always go out after at least one tech rehearsal, but never EVER do something stupid (if you get my drift) if the show is not completely over.
Rehearsing For-
Meet Me in St. Louis (Ensemble)

Possibly Auditioning For-
Bye Bye Birdie (Hoping for Kim for Ursula)

Re:Tech Week Fun - 2008/04/15 23:22 It is standard, unsaid tradition at the Savannah Children's Theatre to never, ever start running the show until at least an hour before we were actually supposed to start, usually due to costuming/emergency last minute set building.

Can you tell this bugs me? Cuz it does

Re:Tech Week Fun - 2008/04/17 15:26 It is Thursday and I am so tired I am actually starting to see things that aren't there. I agree with Christine_wannabe: AIRBORNE is a sign that there is a God who loves us. That and a nap between work/school and rehearsal does wonders!
