Good Character Song Suggestions? - 2008/04/12 09:33 I am auditioning for Oliver! in a couple of weeks, and I am truly tired of my current rep. I want the part of Mrs. Sowerberry. But I am drawing a complete blank finding a song that evokes "That's Your Funeral". Also, since I in no way want the part of Widow Corney, I am trying to think of something that won't bring up hating kids (i.e. Little Girls). I've already played the role and sang "Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore" for that audition, but the director knew me well and I think I couldn't have skipped the singing part and still landed the role.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Andrea

Re:Good Character Song Suggestions? - 2008/04/12 13:02 I suggest you have a look at the British Musical Hall repertoire, particularly Marie Lloyd. Other British cockney musicals: Me and my girl, Half a sixpence, anything else by Lionel Bart like Blitz, etc.
