Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/03 17:38I would say the chorus part in the finale of Les Miserables. This is probably the only show that I'd LOVE to be the chorus in, the chorus parts are almost as good as the solos.*´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•´ Annie

Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/04 00:05I think my favorite chorus number of all time would have to be "Lullaby of Broadway" from 42nd Street, I love the point in the song when the ensemble starts to sing and dance, it gives me chills. The number just screams classic musical theatre to me. Coming in at a very close second is "The Gods Love Nubia" from Aida, I love all the harmony and it's just such an emotionally charged song, I can't help but cry when I see it performed.----------Emily----------

Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/04 11:49I agree with "Lullaby of of Broadway". I'm in 42nd Street right now and I get chills just singing it with everyone else. Also "One Day More" from Les Mis and "I Hope I Get It" from A Chorus Line when they are all dancing together. Oh, and "Rent" from Rent. Not really classic musical theatre but its definitly big and it blows you away.

Oh who are you playing in 42nd Street? That was my last musical in high school (tear), I played Maggie Jones. I really think I would have liked to be in the ensemble though, they do SO much in the show!----------Emily----------

Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/04 23:11not sure if it's memorable since many people aren't familiar with the show, but "sail on", "to the lifeboats" and the finale from maury yeston's "titanic" have got to be some of the bigger, most amazing chorus numbers i was ever a part of. the cast was HUGE (47) for such a small stage and in "sail on" the sopranos were hitting these huge Bs and Cs all over the place. also, in "to the lifeboat", there would be eight voice parts going on at once which was confusing (but added to the appropriate chaos of the scene). it was absolutely amazing what a huge, compelling sound you could get from that many singers!
roles (the significant ones): laurey in "oklahoma!", grace farrell in "annie", the mistress in "evita", cha-cha in "grease", marion thayer in "titanic"

Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/05 00:56"Sunday" from "Sunday In The Park With George" always gives me chills. Just the haunting, soft sound that progressively grows stronger and stronger.. Just beautiful, makes me misty every time.Kathleen Sera Current Shows: Aloha Pinafore - Volga Upcoming Auditions: Crazy For You - Irene Roth

Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/07 11:40Yes! "The Circle of Life" was amazing. I didn't really even like the broadway show that much when I saw it but watching them perform that song made me cry. I thought of another one too..."You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray!

Re:DQ - 2/3/07: Best Chorus Numbers - 2007/02/07 15:18I'm in 42nd Street with leland22...the Lullaby of Broadway is a great song. My personal picks are slightly more modern. I think "Dancing Through Life" from Wicked is a joy to watch on stage. Avenue Q's "It Sucks to Be Me" and "For Now" are great meetings of the whole cast. "Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie is a memorable one for me to be a part of.Shelby Jr. Moderator
