Post-Audition Jitters - 2008/04/06 11:20 How do you deal with post-audition jitters? As in, "I just badly belted my first high note in my audition song and sounded like I had the biggest vocal bridge in history" jitters? Thanks.

Re:Post-Audition Jitters - 2008/04/06 21:17 Distract yourself. Watch T.V. Read. Anything that will make you forget about anything to do with auditioning until the cast list is posted.

Also, don't beat yourself up.
I'm Micaela. But you can call me Mickey!

Currently: Taking a much needed BREAK!

Dream Roles- Lucy in YGMCB, Penny in Hairspray (She's hysterical!), Anything in Oklahoma.

Re:Post-Audition Jitters - 2008/04/06 21:48 Chookas94 , have you ever heard the joke about the two hunters? They were walking along the path in the jungle when a hugh tiger jumped out of the brush and knocked their guns out of their hands. They started to run away, but the tiger was close behind. After about 50 yards, the first hunter looked over to the second hunter and said, "I am not so sure I can outrun that tiger!" The second hunter retorted, "I don't have to be able to outrun the tiger, I only have to be able to outrun YOU!" You don't have to be the greatest singer in the world - you only have to be the best singer that auditioned - or the one that looks most like the character - or the one that looks like they will work the hardest - or the one that endears themselves to the panel the most.

Don't outrun the tiger. Go look at yourself in the mirror and say, "I did the best I could!" Then, get on with the rest of your life.

Re:Post-Audition Jitters - 2008/04/07 10:26 my magic phrase for this is "it is what it is"
your audition is over. you tried your best, and even if you messed up, there's nothing to do about it now. the decision process is out of your control so just release that and start thinking about the next thing you are doing. if they call and offer you a part while you're prepping for another audition, great! if they don't, you're already working on another audition anyway.

Re:Post-Audition Jitters - 2008/04/07 12:32 The more you practice, the better and more confident you will get. Then the less likely you will be to blow an audition. So, back to the drawing board. This happens to everyone. For every audition, when you walk out of the room you have to leave it all behind unless they call you back. Otherwise, you'll just get depressed. You must learn this mind trick or you'll go nuts.

Re:Post-Audition Jitters - 2008/04/07 23:06 Now, go in there with the inspired confidence that plenty of people didn't get a call-back! Go "do what you do" and let them decide.
