Re:Summer Camp Audition stuff - 2008/03/05 14:20 it's the first year for a real musical theatre program,I'm thinking it'd be more of a revue style. Upcoming Things-Youth Sing Praise 2008,Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Theatre Program,

Re:Summer Camp Audition stuff - 2008/03/05 14:29 In that case, just use your strongest song. Better to just show them what you can do rather than showing them you can do a type. If "Unexpected Song" work for you, then it'll probably be a good choice. Briana

Re:Summer Camp Audition stuff - 2008/03/05 15:47 I remembered you from your resume thread.

When all else fails, I tend to go for the strongest song in my repertoire. I'm also a character soprano, so I know how difficult it is to find the perfect song. What are your top 3 songs (that you sing well and fit you well) right now?

Re:Summer Camp Audition stuff - 2008/03/05 17:11 Well,I'm doing I cain't say no from Oklahoma in a variety showI'm really bad at it though.
but top three...I'd say...
GoodNight My Someone
Unexpected Song
Greenfinch and Linnet bird.
...IN LA-Fame?

which doesn't help, because they are all sorta Ballad-y
Any suggestions for an upbeat ish one?

Re:Summer Camp Audition stuff - 2008/03/06 20:56 Do your 2 best songs. Don't think in terms of dream role. Look at yourself in the mirror and be as honest as you can. "What is my type"? If I were casting me, what would I most likely be cast as? Find songs that fit what you are. If you are a perfect Laurie (in looks) from "Oklahoma" with the perfect voice that fits that part - chances are good that you will always be cast as that type. However, my experience is that if you are not, and you keep dreaming of being cast as that - you will most likely ALWAYS go on dreaming and wishing you could play that part. It ain't going to happen unless there are lots of untalented around and you are the only talented one. Be you! Yourself. Find songs that fit your voice type, but look more at the songs for your character type. I would find a good soprano song to show your legit voice and then a good character type song. They should be the basics of your list of songs. Then as specific shows come up, find the roles within the show that most fit you and find songs that you think that character might sing or sound like if they sang the song.
