Good song for Gypsy audition? - 2008/03/03 15:39 Hi! I'm auditioning for a community theatre production of Gypsy. I'm fifteen, but I could pass for a younger person because I'm rather petite. So maybe I could get Baby June of Baby Louise. I was thinking of singing My New Philosophy from YAGMCB. Do you think that is a good choice? I'm an alto with a good range, so I can sing some mezzo songs, too. Any other song ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re:Good song for Gypsy audition? - 2008/03/03 16:49 A quick google search brought me right back here to a page titled "Age Appropriate Audition Songs For Children." Sally is a good start, since she is a child played by an adult actor (or at least the intention was such), but I'd keep your eyes open for something a less contemporary feel.

I just found out that a local theater will be doing Gypsy late into their next season. If I can get my foot and the rest of me back into shape, I'll probably also be looking for some feedback on an audition piece. Best of luck on yours! Briana
