I'M IN!!! YES!!!! - 2008/02/13 14:39Okay, so I finally got word on the auditions. Yay! I really want to audition for this. :]
I need to prepare two contrasting songs of 18 bars from a list of recommended musicals that they provided. I think these are going to be the shows that they "review" in the show. And to be honest, I'm rather excited about the line up. Quite a few of my favorites!
The List Legally Blonde Grease Godspell West Side Story Drowsy Chaperone Young Frankenstein Mary Poppins Mamma Mia Wicked Aida Les Mis Footloose Movin Out
So, from those shows, I need 2 contrasting songs. Also, it has to be from a tape or CD. I'll probably get my voice teacher to play something and record it.
But yeah, I'm really looking forward to Mamma Mia, Grease, and Les Mis. However, I'm excited about most of them.
So uptempo and ballad, I guess.
I already have "Freddy, My Love" in my repetoire. I really want to sing a Mamma Mia song as well. However, I would love some help choosing something.
I'm a mezzo and my range is low f to an A below high c. But i'm more comfortable with F below high c. it depends on what voice. chest is better for my lower notes and higher ones are better with head. anyway, help would be awesome. because i AM auditioning for this one this time.

Re:BROADWAY BABIES, FINALLY! - 2008/02/13 15:35Well, I don't know alot about some of those musicals, but choose something from one of them your most familiar with, and find it the easiest to connect with In my audition this weekend I'm performing Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, when my vocal instructor gave me the list to try, immediately I was drawn to it because of people who i have lost in that last while, and i could relate to those feelings, not quite that amount of grief, but i still understood, and well, basically look over/listen to some of the songs from those shows, and you'll know from inside which piece you should sing (I know that still leaves you with having to decide, but ultimately it comes down to you, and personally i wouldn't want bias towards what i should sing, but suggestions are always good heck my teacher advised against the song I chose, and when I came back the next week, she was in shock haha )

D: I'm going to ask my vocal teacher next lesson. I'm hoping to sing something from Les Mis or Grease for a ballad and Mamma Mia for uptempo. I would love to do "On My Own" even though it is overdone.

I also had my vocal lesson today and she told me to sing my other song for my audition, If I have to sing another song. They are having me sing "Omigod" and "Legally Blonde" from Legally Blonde and.....
"Mamma Mia" from Mamma Mia (They really liked this one!)
However, I can't make the auditions because of a flight. But I contacted the director a few minutes ago and she might be able to schedule a time on Saturday morning for me to be able to meet the Musical Director so that I can sing for her. I'm so excited. I thought the second callback was for being in the cast. It's actually just for solo parts, I think.
I'm up for the role of Donna from Mamma Mia in the Mamma Mia songs and for Elle (even though I'm not blonde) or one of the sorority girls in "Omigod you guys" and "What you want"
But yeah, I have a callback at the Director's house because I cannot make the regular callback time and she was happy to help me arrange another time. So on Saturday, I'm auditioning. Wish me luck!
